A Roadmap for Treatment

Sometimes when beginning therapy, you might not have a clear sense of what the process will look like. My approach is distinct in that it offers a structured, clearly outlined path grounded in Judith Herman’s three-phase model of trauma recovery. This allows you to have a transparent understanding of the work we’re doing and how it supports meaningful change.

This framework provides direction and momentum, while remaining flexible and responsive to your individual history, needs, and pace. Below, you’ll find an overview of each phase and how we move through them collaboratively, with steadiness and care.

01 - Establishing a solid ground

In this early part of the work, we focus on gaining awareness of the impact of trauma and building internal and external stability. This includes emotional awareness, nervous system regulation, coping skills, boundaries, compassionate validation, and strengthening your capacity to stay present without overwhelm.

GOALS

  • Regulate your nervous system

  • Develop coping skills

  • Increase awareness

WHAT WE’LL DO

  • Grounding techniques

  • Somatic awareness

  • Resource building

YOU MIGHT NOTICE

  • Less reactivity and more control

  • More presence

  • A softening towards yourself

02 - Walking the story

When you have sufficient stability and are feeling ready, we move into gently processing traumatic memories using evidence-based methods. The goal is not to relive the past, but to reduce its grip on your present.

GOALS

  • Process trauma memories

  • Make meaning of your experiences

  • Release stored emotions

WHAT WE’LL DO

  • Grounding and resource building

  • Somatic awareness

  • Connect with compassion

YOU MIGHT NOTICE

  • Less intrusion from memories

  • More clarity

  • Relief and lightness

03 - Stepping into what’s next

After processing traumatic and distressing memories, we turn our focus to helping you build a life that feels more grounded, intentional, and aligned with your values and goals.

GOALS

  • Reimagine your identity

  • Deepen relationships

  • Create meaning

WHAT WE’LL DO

  • Values clarification

  • Relationship skills

  • Future planning

YOU MIGHT NOTICE

  • Authentic connection

  • Sense of purpose

  • Joy and ease

The roadmap for each client is individual - movement between phases is not always linear, and some prefer to focus on just one or two phases. We also adapt the pace based on your readiness and goals. The structure provides clarity, but the work remains collaborative.

Modalities + Therapeutic Approaches

I weave together multiples modalities and techniques to support the healing process. Together we’ll choose what fits you - there’s no one-size-fits-all protocol.

Evidence-based trauma treatments

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)

  • CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy)

  • PE (Prolonged Exposure)

  • STAIR (Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation)

Integrative supports

  • Somatic (body-based) therapy

  • Neuroscience-informed psychoeducation

  • Compassion-Focused Therapy

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) techniques, including DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)
